Earlier tonight, Apple released an update to the Mac version of Itunes, which made it accessible with the voice over screen reader. I've only just started playing with it, but it looks really good. It's even possible to buy things on the Itunes Music Store. Itunes support isn't perfect yet. For one thing, I don't believe the equilizer window works yet, at least not that I've seen. But it's a huge step in the right direction.
I've heard a lot of blind people say that they wouldn't even consider the Mac as an option until Itunes worked, so hopefully some of you might consider taking another look at the Mac and Voice Over.

Whoa, finally! This makes me even more excited to see what Apple has in store for us when Leopard is released. I just might find myself making the switch...:)

Ya know! Darcy you beat me to that one. Excellent. I actually was enjoying streaming my first podcast using ITunes. ThisWeekInTech's gotta be my favorite. I do believe that Leopard is going to have much to offer for VoiceOVer users. Aparently, Apple is listening and seems to continuouly show they care about this product. Now, if Mariner softwaer would finish making there products accessible to voiceover we would have a great spreadsheet program available. I keep nagging them and when I get there little sales notices I jab a little harder. They seem like a good company offering good alternitives to Office. Let's hope they get it together.

Yes, a good office suite with spreadsheet would be the last piece to the puzzle. The big complaints from people seem to be itunes support and the lack of a spreadsheet.

Linux and Mack sound like the best operating systems.

Yes both linux and the Mac are great alternatives to windows. I'm not sure everyone should switch. I mean, if your windows setup works for you, and you're happy with it, then you should stay where you are. On the other hand, if there are things you don't like about your screen reader or windows itself, then there are alternatives worth considering. Switching to the Mac is a bit of a wrisk because it means purchasing new hardware. However, the Mac Minis are relatively inexpensive. Also, you might find used Macs on ebay. You wouldn't need the latest and greatest if all you wanted was to evaluate voice over. You just need one capable of running Tiger.
